About
Lina Vasquez is an artist that resides in the Reno/Tahoe area of Nevada and pulls inspiration from the solitude of the southwest landscapes she calls home. Drawing from the living patterns, colors and textures of the deserts and mountains that surround her, she creates visual representations that speak to the beautiful desolation she finds within these geographies. Whether it is the tragic beauty of the living forests, as they deal with the changing environment, or the effervescent colors that saturate a desert sunset, her art embodies the struggle these delicate environments face. By painting the mountain streams, or carefully cataloging an ancient trees lifecycle through metallic prints, Lina Vasquez is recording the spirit of the lands she sees.
Lina was first exposed to art through her grandfather, a lauded watercolor Artist, while growing up in Lithuania. Memories of crawling his studio’s floor, and learning through his eyes, has influenced and inspired her love for chronicling the lifecycle of the forests and her trees through art. Expanding upon these teachings to include acrylics, oils, metallic inks, and shaping copper wire and stone, she creates modern handicrafts and visuals that speak to the human need to be wrapped in nature.
